From Curiosity to Passion

A Lifelong Learner at Heart

I’ve always been a lifelong learner, fascinated by how things are made and eager to try them myself. From brewing beer to crocheting, gardening, remodeling projects, and even website design, I’m a DIYer to the core. Over the years, I’ve embraced the idea that it’s okay to explore a curiosity, learn something new, and then set it aside. Each experience has taught me what brings me joy—and what doesn’t.

Discovering Soap Making

In 2014, I decided to take a soap-making class, driven by one of those curiosities. I loved the idea of turning a few simple ingredients into something my family and I use every day. What I didn’t expect was how luxurious it would feel on my skin. Before long, I was building my own molds, gathering supplies, and making soap for myself and as gifts for family, friends, and coworkers. Life got busy, though, and the hobby was shelved.

A Forgotten Joy Rediscovered

Fast forward to the late summer of 2022: While cleaning out the garage, I stumbled upon a storage tub filled with my soap-making supplies. As I debated whether to keep or donate it, I felt a spark of excitement. Soap making had been one of my happiest creative outlets.

I realized my life had changed since the last time I made soap. My kids had grown, and I had achieved some long-term goals. With new space in my life, I decided it was time to pick up soap making again—only this time, I wanted to do more than just dabble.

Turning Passion into a Business

The idea of turning my joy into a business filled me with excitement. I spent months brainstorming, researching, and planning. But as thrilling as it all was, the excitement soon gave way to icy fear. I didn’t know how to run a business or market my products. What if no one bought my soap? The doubts were paralyzing, and I shelved the idea for months.

The Sign I Needed

Then, one day, I found my sign—literally. On a table at work designated for giveaways, I spotted a poster that read: “If You Can’t Stop Thinking About It, Don’t Stop Working for It.” It stopped me in my tracks. That tiny voice urging me to keep going became impossible to ignore.

I realized I’d rather take the leap and risk doing it imperfectly than live with the regret of never trying.

Moon Phase Soap Is Born

That summer, I poured myself into formulating recipes, testing fragrances, and choosing colorants. Inspired by my love of astronomy and tracking the phases of the moon, I created a theme that felt authentic to me.

Over time, my focus expanded beyond soap to include bath and body products designed to elevate daily self-care rituals. Each scent is curated to evoke calm, joy, and renewal.

Made in the Colorado Rockies

All Moon Phase Soap products are handcrafted in the Colorado Rockies, where the dry climate is notorious for sucking the moisture out of skin and hair. That’s why I prioritize creating hydrating products with simple, high-quality ingredients.

Awaken, Nurture, and Renew

I’m so happy you’re here. My hope is that Moon Phase Soap inspires you to awaken, nurture, and renew your self-care rituals — because even the simplest rituals deserve to be elevated.
